Project Background
Lakefront North is one portion of the much larger Lakefront Core project in Columbia, MD. F13 has been working on Lakefront Core for several years. ‘North’ offers not only mixed use retail and residential aspects, but also a medical facility. The Howard Hughes Corporation and Design Collective, Inc. remain the developer and architect respectively on this project.
Scope
The aerial view is key to understanding the existing neighborhood as it will surround Lakefront North providing geographical perspective. Plus, they always make really great eye-catching final products when done well.
SketchUp models of building footprints and a colorized site plan were provided to F13 in order to get this project up and running. Topography was key to executing this project successfully. So, in this instance, the site plan was utilized to drape over the topography pulled from Google Earth which aided in representing the new topography.
Purpose
The aerial image of Lakefront North was used as an attractive means of communicating to the public the plans that Howard Hughes created for the Columbia property. It is now a fabulous addition to the growing portfolio of views for the total Lakefront project.
